Delta Air Lines is rolling out a new cloud-based in-flight entertainment system, enhancing the travel experience for passengers and expanding its Delta Sync platform. This initiative builds on the personalized experience introduced in 2023 and aims to offer a seamless journey for SkyMiles Members.
In a significant move, YouTube will join Delta’s Delta Sync system to provide ad-free content to passengers. SkyMiles Members can enjoy dynamic entertainment, including creators, podcasts, and music, making the in-flight experience more aligned with their everyday preferences.
Delta’s collaboration with YouTube reflects its vision of enhancing the travel experience by blending cutting-edge technology with meaningful content partnerships. It also aims to create a more personalized, relevant in-flight entertainment offering, expanding beyond traditional options available in the air.
Next-Gen Entertainment Experience
Starting in 2026, select new Delta aircraft will feature a next-gen Delta Sync seatback system powered by Thales Avionics. Key upgrades include:
1. 4K HDR QLED Displays for a vibrant, theater-like viewing experience.
2. Bluetooth Connectivity to pair personal wireless devices with seatback screens.
3. A 96-Terabyte Storage System, enabling more content and smoother streaming.
4. Personalized Content Recommendations, making it easier for passengers to find what they want to watch.
Additional features like a “Do Not Disturb” mode will give passengers greater control over their experience.
Hyper-Personalized Features
A new Onboard Experience Planner will allow SkyMiles Members to customize their in-flight preferences, such as whether they want to be disturbed or when they’d like to be served. These settings will be directly communicated to flight attendants for a smoother service experience.
With these innovations, Delta is redefining in-flight entertainment and connectivity, ensuring a more personalized and enjoyable journey for passengers worldwide.
In late 2025, Delta will roll out a multi-network connectivity solution with Hughes, improving streaming reliability and performance on its global fleet. Currently, Delta offers fast, free Wi-Fi on over 700 aircraft, along with more than 165,000 seatback screens in use.
