Safran has signed a definitive agreement with Embraer to sell its 50% stake in EZAir, the aircraft interiors joint venture established to support Embraer’s commercial aircraft programs. The transaction marks a strategic realignment of industrial responsibilities, with Embraer moving to fully integrate interiors manufacturing and aftermarket capabilities within its own industrial ecosystem.
EZAir operates a major production facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, employing approximately 1,100 people, and is responsible for manufacturing cabin interiors for Embraer aircraft, along with providing related aftermarket support. Upon completion of the transaction, Embraer will assume 100% ownership of the Chihuahua site, bringing interiors production fully under its industrial control.

In parallel, engineering and manufacturing activities in Brazil currently managed by Safran Cabin and dedicated to Embraer programs will be transferred to Embraer. These activities play a key role in supporting Embraer’s aircraft development and production ramp-up. Safran confirmed that non-Embraer-related engineering services within Safran Cabin Brazil will remain part of Safran’s operations.
From an industrial standpoint, the move enables Embraer to strengthen vertical integration across its aircraft programs, improving coordination between design, manufacturing, and aftermarket support for cabin interiors. Full ownership of EZAir is expected to enhance production planning, cost control, and responsiveness to airline customization and delivery schedules.
For Safran, the transaction reflects a continued focus on portfolio optimization, allowing the group to concentrate resources on its core cabin equipment, systems, and services businesses across a broader customer base.
