Scottish Leather Group, parent of Muirhead, has acquired Aerotech Systems Limited, a UK-based aerospace production organisation.
Aerotech Systems holds UK Civil Aviation Authority Part 21G Production Organisation Approval (POA), which allows it to manufacture certified aircraft components. The acquisition brings these certifications and production capabilities in-house.
The move enables Muirhead to supply certified aircraft interior components, including seat covers, directly to airlines and OEMs, rather than relying on external production partners. The company said this is expected to simplify certification processes and reduce delivery timelines.

Muirhead’s activities span leather manufacturing and seat cover production. With the addition of Aerotech Systems, the group will integrate certification, manufacturing and assembly within a single organisation.
The company also introduced BioPRO foam, a seating material developed using collagen derived from its leather production process. The material is designed to meet fire safety requirements without the use of certain chemical additives typically used in aviation seating foams.
The acquisition reflects a broader trend of suppliers expanding in-house capabilities to manage certification and production across aircraft interiors programmes.
