Aeroflot has introduced a lacto-vegetarian hot meal option in Economy Class as part of a pilot programme on selected long-haul flights departing from Moscow. Available from August 1 on flights with a scheduled duration of more than seven hours, the new meal is being offered alongside the airline’s existing meat and fish options, giving Economy Class passengers three hot meal choices during the first meal service.
The additional meal option was introduced following an analysis of passenger feedback and publicly available data on dietary preferences. The lacto-vegetarian menu will rotate between four dishes: penne pasta with tomato sauce and cheese; spelt with mushrooms and tomato sauce; fried potatoes with mushrooms and dill; and farfalle pasta with cream sauce, mushrooms and herbs.
The meals exclude meat, poultry and fish while retaining dairy ingredients, consistent with a lacto-vegetarian diet. The pilot is currently limited to flights departing from Moscow with a flight duration of more than seven hours. Aeroflot will use passenger demand and feedback during the trial to assess the additional meal option.
