Duncan Aviation has completed a remarkable interior refurbishment of a Bombardier Global 5000 at its full-service MRO facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. The project creates a cabin that reflects contemporary sophistication through skillful craftsmanship and exquisite design elements.

Luxury in Every Detail

The refurbishment includes every cabin element, such as seating, veneers, countertops, flooring, and plating. Guided by the aircraft owner’s design vision, Duncan Aviation Designer Jaime Blanken curated a contemporary palette, while Senior Completions and Modifications Sales Representative Matt Spain personally coordinated with the customer to align materials and finishes.

Inspired by the increasing popularity of monochromatic designs, Blanken combined dark veneers and satin platinum plating with complementary textures to create a cabin that is both eye-catching and classic.

Contemporary Comfort

Custom seat coverings, which are made from a soft wool blend fabric and leather, offer more comfort and design options than conventional all-leather interiors.

“It feels more like an upscale living space and gives the aircraft a different feel,” said Blanken. “The angled armrests add a modern edge while enhancing functionality and style.”

Lighter upper sidewalls and headliners add brightness, while lower sidewalls have embossed tipped leather for a tactile finish. The galley’s opulent vinyl tile flooring and delicately patterned carpet bring the entire design together.

Additionally, the entryway was completely redesigned. Duncan Manufacturing Solutions (DMS) combined safety with a smooth, long-lasting finish by designing modular stainless-steel steps with precisely machined neoprene inlays.

In-House Fabrication Innovation

A standout element is the crew lavatory sink, custom-built in-house after no off-the-shelf solution matched the design. The sink is constructed from several layers of Corian that were glued together and then machined to form the bowl. Once the bowl was completed, it was bonded to the main countertop.

“Once Jaime located a suitable Corian color, Automated Systems Master Specialist Kevin Jones developed a 3D model and used his extensive experience with Corian to bring the concept to life,” explained Duncan Aviation Interior Cabinet Shop/CNC Team Leader Nick Dahlberg.

“This was a method the team has been considering for some time, and given that the aircraft was originally configured this way, it felt like the right opportunity to move forward with this method,” he explained. “The team nailed it and provided a custom, one-off product for the customer.”

Additional Highlights

  • Countertops: Calcutta stone, solid-surface galley countertops offering timeless elegance.
  • Cabinetry: Rich, dark re-veneered cabinetry adding depth and refinement.
  • Divan: Custom upholstered in textured fabric for warmth and style.
  • Credenza Mechanism: Innovative flip-up monitor with hidden control for a clean, safe design.
  • Galley Storage: Custom compartments with integrated LED lighting for varied liquor bottle sizes.
  • Flight Deck: Refreshed with new paint, seating, sidewalls, and carpeting.
  • Technology: Collins Aerospace Venue Cabin Management System, Prizm lighting, LED-enhanced steps and exterior, plus Starlink internet.

“The cabin was really outdated before,” Blanken explained. “Now, it feels like stepping into a luxury suite. The entire team is proud to have brought the customer’s vision to life with precision, innovation, and attention to detail.”

The outcome is a Global 5000 interior that strikes a balance between comfort and sophistication, further solidifying Duncan Aviation’s standing as a provider of custom aircraft completions.
