European Union Aviation Safety Agency has granted Lufthansa Technik the “Certain STC Privilege”, allowing the company to independently approve recurring cabin modifications for the Airbus A320ceo family without requiring individual EASA approvals.
The privilege covers interior changes such as seat reconfigurations, relocation of galleys and lavatories, and repositioning of class dividers, helping reduce certification timelines, aircraft downtime and project complexity during cabin retrofit programmes.

Dr. Uwe Schueler, VP Design Organisation at Lufthansa Technik, added: “The privilege allows us to clearly differentiate between routine projects we can handle independently and those requiring close EASA involvement. We expect certification cost savings of up to 20 percent.”
Harald Gloy, COO of Lufthansa Technik, said the approval will “significantly speed up the approval process, save precious time and avoid unnecessary costs.”
According to Lufthansa Technik, the new framework could reduce certification costs by up to 20 percent while accelerating aircraft interior upgrade projects for airline customers.
