Lufthansa has started its rollout of Starlink-based inflight connectivity, with an Airbus A320neo becoming the first aircraft in the Lufthansa Group fleet to operate with the new system.
The aircraft, registered D-AINM, operated the first Starlink-equipped flight on August 19, 2026, from Frankfurt to Rome as flight LH234. The system was activated during the flight at an altitude of 10,000 metres.
The new Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi uses Starlink’s low-Earth-orbit satellite network to provide inflight internet connectivity. Passengers can use the service for web browsing and access to destination information, Lufthansa Group content and eJournals. Additional flight-related information and services are planned for the portal.

The service is available free of charge to Miles & More members and Travel ID users across travel classes.
Up to 10 additional A320-family aircraft operated by Lufthansa and Lufthansa City Airlines are scheduled to receive the system before the end of 2026. Installation will mainly be carried out at Lufthansa Technik’s facility in Berlin and will be combined with scheduled aircraft maintenance checks.
The wider Lufthansa Group rollout is planned to cover around 850 aircraft across its airlines by 2029. The installation programme will include aircraft operated by other Lufthansa Group carriers.
The connectivity system will be integrated into aircraft during scheduled technical downtime, allowing the airline to combine the installation with existing maintenance activities.
Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines, said, “We are investing more than ever in our guests: in new aircraft, new services, greater choice on board and, of course, state-of-the-art and innovative technology. With Starlink, we will offer the fastest connectivity from take-off to landing, over oceans and deserts, and on short- and long-haul routes. That, too, is premium—and that is what Lufthansa stands for. The introduction of this service marks another milestone in the modernisation of Lufthansa.”
Lufthansa Group Wi-Fi also includes terms of use for passengers. Mastercard is sponsoring the service and was previously a partner of Lufthansa’s FlyNet connectivity service.
