ZIM Aircraft Seating GmbH, a leading supplier of premium aircraft seating solutions, has announced a major expansion of its production site in Markdorf, Germany, in response to the continued rise in global demand for high-quality passenger seating.

The multi-million-euro project includes the construction of new production lines and storage facilities, marking a significant step in ZIM’s long-term growth and innovation strategy. The expansion will strengthen the company’s manufacturing capacity, optimize production flow, and enhance its ability to serve major international airlines and aircraft OEMs.

“As we expand our production capabilities, we’re reinforcing our commitment to innovation and long-term success,” said Raffael Rogg, CEO of ZIM Group. “Markdorf has been the heart of ZIM’s operations for over two decades, and this investment will further cement our role as a global technology leader in aircraft seating while creating new opportunities for our employees.”

As part of the project, ZIM will integrate facilities from neighboring companies into its production network, allowing for greater efficiency and improved cross-departmental collaboration. The expanded site will support ZIM’s ongoing focus on lightweight design, enhanced passenger comfort, and environmentally efficient seating systems.

The move comes as the aircraft seating market experiences sustained growth, driven by airlines’ continued cabin upgrades, increasing passenger expectations for comfort, and a steady recovery in aircraft production. Industry analysts forecast that the global aircraft seating market will exceed USD 7 billion by 2030, with particularly strong demand for premium economy and business class products.

ZIM’s expansion underscores this industry momentum, as airlines increasingly seek flexible, modular, and lightweight seating solutions that balance comfort, sustainability, and efficiency.
