IndiGo is all set to offer business class services on its flight towards the end of 2024, marking a strategic shift in IndiGo’s product offering. The services will be offered on its busiest and business routes. The airline will divulge more details about the offer, launch dates and routes in August 2024.

Considering India’s soaring economy and the evolving aspirations of Indian society, it’s time for IndiGo to redefine premium travel in India, increasing availability of this service for the nation. It will create a desired option for many who are aiming to travel business, perhaps for the first time in their lives, the airline said in a release.

“We are excited with this new phase and tailor-made product in IndiGo’s evolution and strategy and aim to further give wings to the nation, by connecting people and aspirations,” said Pieter Elbers, chief executive, IndiGo. “We believe, as India gears up to become the third largest economy in the world, it’s our privilege to provide the New India even more options to choose from as they travel business,” he added.

However, experts feel that this move by IndiGo might set the stage for low-cost business class travel to cater to passengers yeaning for luxury experience without having to pay a premium price. The initial price is expected to be extremely competitive as compared to Air India and Vistara.

The business class seats available in India are all by tata group – Air India and Vistara, along with some seats on offer on the 737 MAX8 aircraft of Air India Express.

It will be interesting to note how the domestic Indian passengers will respond to IndiGo’s business class offering.
