Avianor, a leader in aircraft maintenance and interior solutions, just took a huge step forward with the official opening of its new A220 Center of Excellence at Montreal-Mirabel International Airport (YMX). The $70 million facility, which broke ground in 2023, is set to elevate the future of aircraft interiors, offering innovative solutions for the A220 and other narrow-body aircraft.

This state-of-the-art hangar spans 105,000 square feet and adds four new maintenance lines, expanding Avianor’s capacity to offer high-quality services. With cutting-edge technology and top-tier equipment, the A220 Center of Excellence is a game-changer for airlines and operators in need of specialized interior services, from new aircraft entry into service to custom refurbishments.

Custom Interior Solutions: Dedicated Spaces for Refinishing and Restyling

Designed with both efficiency and sustainability in mind, the A220 Center is equipped with advanced features like energy-efficient LED lighting and heat pumps for climate control, ensuring that operations are not just high-quality but environmentally friendly too. The facility also houses a dedicated detailed paint shop and sandblasting room, offering the perfect space for aircraft exterior and interior refinishing, whether it’s a custom cabin redesign or a simple refresh. The added precision of an advanced access shaft means every detail, from the seats to the overhead bins, gets the care it deserves.

“We’re all about pushing the envelope with aircraft interiors,” said Hugo Brouillard, Chief Operating Officer & President of Affiliates of DRAKKAR, including Avianor. “This center represents a transformative moment for us and our partners. With the creation of over 100 specialized jobs, we’re empowering our team to deliver best-in-class solutions that set new standards for customer satisfaction and operational excellence.”

The partnership with SafeSpill technology brings an added layer of safety with advanced fire protection, giving airlines peace of mind when it comes to both maintenance and refurbishments. Whether it’s a full cabin makeover or a quick refresh, Avianor is ready to deliver the next generation of aircraft interiors.

Benoit Hudon, President & CEO of DRAKKAR, reflected on the milestone: “This isn’t just about opening a facility; it’s about setting a new standard for aircraft interiors. The trust of our key customers from the very start has been essential to making this happen, and now we’re ready to take that trust and turn it into cutting-edge, world-class solutions for the aviation industry.”

As Avianor’s new A220 Center of Excellence ramps up, it’s clear the facility will be a game-changer for airlines seeking top-tier interior solutions. With its focus on innovation, quality, and sustainability, this new center is poised to raise the bar for aircraft interiors, not just in Canada but across the globe.
