Emirates has officially launched its highly anticipated Airbus A350-900, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s ongoing evolution. This sleek, state-of-the-art aircraft is the first new addition to Emirates’ fleet in over 15 years, promising to revolutionize the flying experience with next-level comfort, enhanced operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to sustainability. The A350-900 ushers in a new era for the airline, offering passengers a modern, premium travel experience while also expanding Emirates’ global reach.

Designed with the modern traveler in mind, the Emirates A350 boasts a sleek, three-class cabin configuration, offering a total of 312 seats. The aircraft was built to optimize both the passenger experience and operational flexibility, ensuring that each journey is comfortable, relaxing, and efficient.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline showcases the new Emirates A350 to His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy.

Business Class: Extra Comfort, Extra Space
The Business Class cabin on the Emirates A350 is a standout feature, with 32 next-generation lie-flat seats that transform into fully flat beds, offering passengers an ultra-comfortable space for rest. These seats are designed for both privacy and convenience, giving travelers the luxury of extra legroom, modern amenities, and a perfect resting position for long-haul flights. Safran Seats’ S-Lounge business class seat was specifically designed for Emirates, providing an ergonomic, luxurious feel that enhances the travel experience.

Premium Economy: More Space, More Comfort
The A350 also offers 21 Premium Economy seats, giving passengers even more space and comfort than in traditional Economy Class. These seats are well-pitched, providing extra legroom and a more relaxed seating position, ideal for those looking for more comfort without the price tag of Business Class.

Economy Class: Sustainability Meets Comfort
In Economy Class, Emirates offers 259 seats designed with ergonomic features to ensure comfort on long flights. The new Z400 seats, made from lightweight materials, are not only designed for greater comfort but also reduce the environmental footprint of the aircraft. These seats are more energy-efficient and built with fewer components, reflecting the airline’s strong commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency.

Cutting-Edge Onboard Features
Emirates’ focus on innovation doesn’t stop with the seating. The airline has also worked closely with Safran Cabin to deliver state-of-the-art galley equipment for its A350. Emirates took delivery of the first batch of 50 galley shipsets designed to its ACE (Aircraft Cabin Environment) standard. These galleys feature high-tech inserts like Safran GEMini and Safran NUVO units, which offer enhanced efficiency and advanced features, ensuring smooth cabin service and operational excellence.

At the launch event, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline & Group, shared the significance of this new aircraft for the airline’s future. “This aircraft sets the stage for Emirates to spread its wings farther by offering added range, efficiency, and flexibility,” said Sheikh Ahmed. He emphasized that the introduction of the A350 aligns perfectly with Dubai’s D33 Strategy, which aims to transform the city into a global economic hub by enhancing connectivity and expanding Emirates’ network.

Emirates has ordered 65 Airbus A350 aircraft, which will allow the airline to expand its reach even further and serve new and underserved markets. The A350’s added range and flexibility will be key to Emirates’ growth and support for its ambitious global expansion.

What’s Next for the Emirates A350?
Emirates’ first scheduled commercial flight with the A350 will take place on January 3, 2025, to Edinburgh. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for Emirates, with the airline planning to deploy the A350 to a variety of destinations. In addition to Edinburgh, routes will include Bahrain, Muscat, Kuwait, Lyon, Bologna, Colombo, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad—with more routes to be revealed in 2025. The A350 will also enable Emirates to offer ultra-long-haul flights, creating new travel opportunities from Dubai to global destinations that were previously underserved by larger aircraft.

Strong Partnerships for Long-Term Success
The launch of the Airbus A350-900 marks the beginning of a new chapter in Emirates’ long-standing partnership with Airbus and Rolls-Royce. Emirates has been a key customer of Airbus for nearly four decades, with previous orders including the A300, A330, A340, and A380. Philippe Mhun, Executive Vice President of Programmes & Services at Airbus, expressed pride in this collaboration: “The A350 is set to become an integral part of the Emirates fleet, supporting their continued growth and sustainability goals.”

Rolls-Royce, the exclusive engine provider for the A350, has invested heavily in the durability and performance of its Trent XWB engine, which powers the Emirates A350. Omar Ali Adib, SVP of Customer for the Middle East and Africa at Rolls-Royce, highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the aircraft’s performance. “With our £1bn investment in durability across our Trent engine family, we are committed to evolving and improving its capabilities, ensuring reliable performance for years to come,” he said.

With the introduction of the A350-900, Emirates is not just welcoming a new aircraft to its fleet; it’s signaling a bold step forward in aviation. This aircraft offers passengers an upgraded flying experience with next-gen comfort, cutting-edge technology, and sustainability. Emirates’ decision to invest in the A350 as part of its long-term growth strategy reflects the airline’s commitment to staying ahead of the curve in terms of customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
