Thales and Qatar Airways are setting gears to establish a dedicated Inflight Entertainment (IFE) service and maintenance center in Doha, Qatar with new the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This new MRO facility will offer comprehensive services, including repair, spare parts distribution, technical assistance, and line maintenance for Thales’ full range of IFE products.

The IFE center is designed to enhance Qatar Airways’ operational efficiency and support the airline’s ambitious growth plans. In line with Qatar Vision 2030, the collaboration will also contribute to the growth of the aerospace and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) ecosystem in the country, while creating high-skilled job opportunities

Ali Al Saadi, chief MRO officer at Qatar Airways, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership, stating, “It is vitally important that we continue to explore new ways to ensure our technology and capabilities are at the cutting edge of modern aviation. I am confident that our collaboration with Thales will enable this to happen.”

Thomas Got, vice president of Aviation Global Services at Thales, emphasized the growing strength of the partnership, noting, “This MoU underscores our shared commitment to operational excellence and sets the foundation for a local service hub in Doha, supporting Qatar Airways’ future growth.”

This new MoU builds on the long-standing relationship between Thales and Qatar Airways. Thales has been Qatar Airways’ trusted IFE provider for several aircraft platforms, including the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, A350, and A380. The partnership has recently been expanded to include the airline’s new A321 NX fleet, which will be equipped with Thales’ award-winning FlytEDGE cloud-native IFE solution.
