Qatar Airways has become the world’s first airline to equip Boeing 787-8 aircraft with Starlink satellite connectivity, while also completing the rollout of the high-speed Wi-Fi solution across its entire Airbus A350 fleet.
The carrier has already introduced Starlink on three Boeing 787 Dreamliners, bringing the total number of Starlink-equipped widebody aircraft to nearly 120. This represents more than 58% of Qatar Airways’ wide-body fleet, including Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 787s.
The milestone follows the airline’s earlier Boeing 777 Starlink programme and marks the fastest widebody connectivity rollout seen in commercial aviation. Qatar Airways completed both the Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 Starlink installations within 14 months before expanding the technology to the Dreamliner fleet.

Passengers onboard Starlink-equipped aircraft have access to complimentary, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi with speeds of up to 500 Mbps, supporting high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming, video calls, and real-time productivity throughout long- and ultra-long-haul flights.
Since launching the service in October 2024, more than 11 million passengers have used Qatar Airways’ Starlink connectivity. In 2025 alone, the airline accounted for nearly half of the 21 million passengers connected via Starlink across global airlines.
From a cabin operations perspective, Starlink is also enhancing real-time crew coordination and in-flight systems monitoring, enabling improved service response, operational efficienc,y and turnaround performance.
With this latest expansion, Qatar Airways continues to operate the world’s largest Starlink-equipped widebody fleet and remains the first airline in the MENA region to deploy the technology at scale, reinforcing its focus on digital cabin innovation and passenger experience.
