Air Premia has increased economy class seat pitch on Boeing 787 aircraft HL8701 from 31 inches to 33 inches as part of a cabin reconfiguration programme aimed at improving passenger comfort.
The change has reduced total seat capacity on the aircraft from 344 to 326 seats, a decrease of 18 seats. The aircraft completed modification in mid-March and re-entered service on 16 March.
The reconfiguration forms part of the airline’s broader cabin upgrade initiative focused on enhancing passenger experience on long-haul routes. In 2024, Air Premia also reconfigured two aircraft, reducing the seat count from 338 to 320 while increasing economy-class seat pitch.
The airline plans to standardise economy class seat pitch at 33 inches or more across aircraft currently configured with 344 seats.
Air Premia operates a fleet of nine aircraft with varying configurations, including 309-, 320-, 326- and 344-seat layouts. Aircraft with lower seat densities already feature seat pitch of 33 inches or greater.
“Air Premia is committed to continuously improving seat space and the cabin environment so that passengers traveling on long-haul routes can enjoy a more comfortable journey,” an Air Premia official said. “We will continue to introduce various service enhancements to further elevate the customer experience.”
As part of the upgrade, the airline has also installed new cabin carpeting. The lighter material contributes to overall weight reduction and is expected to support operational efficiency.
