TCI Aircraft Interiors has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dolby Laboratories to assess the use of immersive audio and video technologies in future in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems.

The non-binding agreement focuses on evaluating the integration of Dolby Atmos spatial audio and Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) video into TCI’s Cornea IFE platform. The companies will study technical and commercial aspects of deploying these technologies in aircraft cabin environments.

The MoU does not include commitments to product development or commercial rollout but is intended to explore potential applications for next-generation IFE systems.

Müjdat Uludağ, CEO of TCI Aircraft Interiors, said: “This memorandum of understanding with Dolby allows us to explore how immersive audio and visual technologies could shape the future of in-flight entertainment.”

Javier Foncillas, Vice President of Global Commercial Partnerships at Dolby Laboratories, added: “We’re exploring how technologies like Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision could enhance how passengers experience content in the air.”

The collaboration reflects ongoing industry interest in enhancing audio-visual quality within IFE systems as part of broader cabin digitalisation efforts.
