airBaltic has introduced a new entry-level fare, Economy MINI, aimed at passengers travelling with only a personal item, reflecting the continued shift among European airlines toward unbundled cabin service models.
The fare, available through the airline’s direct sales channels, includes one personal item measuring up to 40 x 30 x 15 cm. Additional services, including cabin baggage, checked luggage and onboard meals, can be purchased separately during booking.
The introduction of Economy MINI places airBaltic alongside a growing number of European carriers offering lower base fares tied to reduced cabin baggage allowances. The trend has increasingly influenced cabin and passenger experience strategies, particularly on short-haul routes where airlines are segmenting services and encouraging ancillary purchases.

Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at airBaltic, said: “With Economy MINI, airBaltic continues to develop its fare portfolio to reflect how customers travel today, introducing a straightforward entry-level fare that customers can flexibly tailor with additional services if needed.”
The new fare sits below the airline’s existing Economy BASIC option and becomes the sixth fare category in airBaltic’s product structure. The airline will continue offering other fare types that include cabin baggage allowances across Economy and Business Class.
The development highlights how airlines are adapting cabin product strategies around lighter travel habits, flexible pricing structures and optional onboard services, particularly in the European short-haul market.
