Panasonic Avionics Corporation has announced that its interactive moving map platform, Arc 3D In-Flight Map, is now selected by more than 40 airline customers worldwide, covering over 1,300 installed and committed aircraft.

The company said the adoption reflects continued airline interest in enhancing in-flight engagement through more interactive and visually rich passenger-facing applications. Within the broader in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) segment, moving maps are increasingly being repositioned from basic flight tracking tools to more integrated digital engagement features within seatback and connected ecosystems.

Arc is positioned as part of this shift, offering 3D visualisation capabilities and configurable content designed to allow airlines to present route networks, destinations, and contextual flight information. The platform can be deployed as a standalone application or integrated into Panasonic Avionics’ broader modular interactive environment.

Recent updates include enhancements to Arc Studio, a cloud-based content management tool that enables airlines to update map content and customise visual experiences. The system also supports the addition of custom points of interest and editorial content, aimed at improving contextual relevance during flights. Panasonic Avionics has also expanded access through a web-based portal to support mobile viewing and cross-device continuity.

Andrew Mohr, Vice President of Digital Solutions at Panasonic Avionics, said:
“Prior to launching Arc, the market for in-flight maps had become stagnant, with limited real choices for our customers. We saw the opportunity to introduce a new approach, and to stimulate a new generation of map innovation for the IFE industry.”

He added: “Reaching more than 40 airline customers and 1,300 committed aircraft is a major milestone for Arc, making it the most successful and widely adopted IFE application in Panasonic Avionics’ history. Our team has an incredible set of new features and enhancements in the delivery pipeline that will further deliver on the potential of an immersive, branded and connected experience through map engagement.”

Industry adoption of enhanced moving map systems has accelerated as airlines focus on differentiating passenger experience through digital cabin services, particularly on long-haul and premium routes where engagement time is higher and personalization tools are increasingly being explored.
