Royal Brunei Airlines has successfully implemented AMOSmobile/EXEC across its maintenance operations, marking a significant milestone in the carrier’s ongoing digital transformation journey and its commitment to achieving fully paperless maintenance processes.

The national carrier of Brunei Darussalam completed the rollout of the mobile maintenance solution in June 2026 in partnership with Swiss-AS, extending digital maintenance execution capabilities across both its Line Maintenance and Base Maintenance operations.

The implementation reflects a growing trend among airlines worldwide to embrace digital technologies that improve operational efficiency, reduce paperwork and provide technicians with real-time access to maintenance information directly at the aircraft.

Two-Phase rollout

To support operational continuity and facilitate user adoption, Royal Brunei Airlines adopted a phased implementation strategy. The first phase, covering Line Maintenance activities, went live on 5 June 2026, while the second phase focused on Base Maintenance operations and was successfully launched on 15 June 2026.

The structured approach enabled engineering teams to gradually transition from traditional paper-based workflows to fully digital maintenance execution while minimising disruption to ongoing operations.

Supporting modern maintenance Ops

As a long-standing AMOS user, Royal Brunei Airlines identified mobile maintenance execution as a key component of its wider digitalisation strategy.

The airline operates a modern fleet comprising Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners and Airbus A320neo aircraft, both of which generate significant volumes of maintenance and operational data. Managing this information efficiently is increasingly important as airlines seek to optimise fleet performance, improve reliability and reduce maintenance-related delays.

With AMOSmobile/EXEC, technicians can now perform and document maintenance activities directly at the aircraft using mobile devices. The system enables maintenance records to be captured and synchronised instantly with the AMOS platform, eliminating the need for manual data transcription and reducing administrative workloads.

Enhancing efficiency

The introduction of mobile maintenance execution is expected to deliver multiple operational benefits for Royal Brunei Airlines. By digitising maintenance documentation processes, the airline can improve data accuracy, enhance traceability and reduce the risk of human-factor-related errors associated with manual record-keeping. The availability of real-time maintenance information also supports faster decision-making and improved coordination between engineering teams.

For aircraft undergoing line checks or hangar maintenance, digital task execution can contribute to shorter turnaround times and greater visibility into maintenance progress, helping airlines optimise aircraft availability.

The implementation also provides engineering personnel with a more streamlined and user-friendly workflow, enabling technicians to focus more on maintenance activities and less on paperwork.

Digitalisation

Across the global aviation industry, airlines and MRO organisations are increasingly investing in mobile technologies, electronic task cards and paperless maintenance solutions as part of broader digital transformation initiatives.

The move towards digital maintenance execution not only improves operational efficiency but also supports sustainability objectives by reducing paper consumption and enhancing process standardisation.

For airlines operating modern fleets, mobile maintenance platforms are becoming essential tools for improving productivity, strengthening compliance and maintaining accurate aircraft records throughout the maintenance lifecycle.

Commitment to excellence

Commenting on the milestone, Colonel Norsuriati Haji Sharbini, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines, said the implementation reflects the airline’s commitment to embracing smarter and more efficient ways of working.

She noted that enabling engineering teams to perform and record maintenance activities digitally represents an important step towards achieving a more efficient and paperless maintenance environment while supporting both operational excellence and sustainability goals.

The airline also acknowledged the collaboration with Swiss-AS in delivering the project and helping advance its digital maintenance capabilities.

Strengthening the future of Maintenance Operations

As airlines continue to modernise maintenance processes and adopt digital technologies, Royal Brunei Airlines’ successful deployment of AMOSmobile/EXEC highlights the growing importance of mobile-enabled maintenance execution in improving operational performance.

By extending digital workflows across both line and base maintenance activities, the carrier has taken another step towards creating a more connected, efficient and data-driven engineering operation, positioning itself to support future growth while maintaining high standards of safety, reliability and service excellence.
