RECARO Aircraft Seating has announced the appointment of Andreas Erber as its new CTO and Member of the Executive Board, effective September 2026, as the company strengthens its leadership team to support continued growth and innovation.

The appointment comes as the aircraft seating manufacturer builds on a strong industry outlook and an order book valued at approximately €3 billion, reinforcing its focus on engineering excellence, product innovation and sustainable growth.

Erber holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Stuttgart and brings extensive experience in aviation and advanced materials engineering. He began his career in the carbon fibre industry, where he spent nearly a decade in leadership positions including Head of Thermoplastic Composites, Director of the Lightweight and Application Center, and Vice President Aerospace. Most recently, he served as Managing Director at a major automotive and aerospace supplier, overseeing aviation engineering and advanced composite technologies.

Commenting on his appointment, Erber said he is looking forward to contributing to RECARO’s continued success through innovation.

“RECARO is renowned in aviation. It combines a distinctive brand with leading OEM expertise, delivering a tangible and positive impact on the passenger experience,” he said. “I look forward to working with our expert R&D team to further drive the company’s success.”

Mark Hiller, CEO and Shareholder of RECARO Aircraft Seating and CEO of RECARO Holding, said Erber’s technical expertise and leadership experience make him well suited to lead the company’s technology strategy.

“With his deep technical expertise and extensive experience in aviation, combined with a strong track record of leadership, Andreas Erber is exceptionally well suited for the role of CTO at RECARO Aircraft Seating,” Hiller said. “I am confident that this key appointment will bring fresh momentum to our mission. Our focus is clear: driving comfort in the sky while enabling sustainable growth for the future.”

RECARO continues to invest heavily in research and development, allocating at least 10% of its annual revenue to innovation. The company’s engineering efforts have resulted in several patented technologies and product innovations, including the high literature pocket, steward step and R Engine, reflecting its emphasis on passenger comfort, quality and operational efficiency.

The company also highlighted that its portfolio of economy, premium economy and business class seating remains among the newest in the industry. Successive generations of economy class seats have delivered at least one inch of additional passenger living space while reducing seat weight by more than one kilogram, contributing to improved airline efficiency.

Building on its established leadership in the economy class seating market, RECARO said it will continue expanding its presence in the business class segment, with the long-term objective of becoming the global market leader in premium aircraft seating solutions.
