The flag carrier of Guernsey, Aurigny is fitting new seats in planes as a part of its measure to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility. For this, the airline is investing £300,000 in the new ATR-recommended aisle chairs in Guernsey
The chairs are designed to be the maximum permissible width for the ATR, providing greater comfort and ease for passengers when boarding and disembarking the aircraft. In addition, all armrests will be adjustable, and disability aids will be fitted in the toilets.
Dave Cox, head of ground operations, said changes would improve the travel experience for customers who needed it. “We assist around 500 reduced mobility customers each month, and we’re working hard to enhance their travel experience with us. We remain dedicated to offering as much support as possible with specialized equipment to all customers who request it.”
In the next couple of months, additional ramps will be added including one ramp at Gatwick and Southampton and two in Guernsey, which have been purchased in conjunction with Guernsey Airport.
