EgyptAir has become the first airline in the world to feature advanced in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) systems from Panasonic Avionics Corporation on its new A350-900. The new IFE comes with a range of new digital applications, like Panasonic Avionics’ fully integrated in-flight engagement platform called Modular Interactive (MI). The system is designed to improve how airlines manage and update passenger experiences onboard.
The Modular Interactive platform is a cloud-based system that allows airlines to quickly update content, design, and services without long development timelines. It gives airlines more control to customise layouts, branding, apps, and passenger services in a faster and more cost-effective way.
This marks a shift towards treating in-flight entertainment as a “third digital channel” for airlines, alongside mobile apps and websites, enabling a more connected and personalised passenger journey.

In Business Class, the aircraft is equipped with Panasonic’s Astrova in-flight entertainment system. This includes high-quality 4K OLED screens, offering a cinema-like viewing experience, along with Bluetooth audio connectivity and fast USB-C charging for personal devices.
In Economy Class, passengers will experience the NEXT in-flight entertainment system, which also features 4K seatback screens, easy-to-use controls, and support for personal headphones via Bluetooth.
One of the highlights of the new system is the Arc 3D interactive map, which offers a more immersive way for passengers to track their journey. Unlike traditional maps, this version provides high-quality visuals and smoother interaction.
A unique addition is the “Young Explorers” mode designed for children. It features a dinosaur-themed experience where young passengers can explore their flight path while learning about dinosaurs that once lived in the regions they are flying over.
Another new feature, Arc Vistas, offers cinematic views of landscapes, turning the map into a relaxing visual experience during the flight.
The aircraft is also equipped with in-flight connectivity through Panasonic’s global satellite network, allowing passengers to stay connected throughout the journey.
To further improve passenger engagement and airline revenue, EgyptAir has also introduced an onboard e-commerce platform. This allows passengers to browse and purchase products during the flight through an easy-to-use digital interface.
According to EgyptAir, the new systems are aimed at delivering a more comfortable, engaging, and modern travel experience for passengers across all classes.
For Panasonic Avionics, this collaboration highlights the growing role of digital technology in aviation, where entertainment, connectivity, and services are increasingly integrated into a single platform to enhance both passenger satisfaction and airline efficiency.
