In a move that underscores the growing importance of high-speed connectivity in shaping modern passenger experience, flyExclusive has successfully completed the installation of Starlink satellite internet on a Challenger aircraft, marking a significant milestone under its authorised Starlink dealership agreement.
The installation, carried out by flyExclusive’s in-house MRO division, highlights the company’s expanding capabilities in avionics integration and cabin connectivity upgrades. Leveraging its experience in complex retrofit programmes, the team executed the installation in an accelerated timeframe, demonstrating the operational efficiency required to meet rising demand for next-generation inflight connectivity (IFC).
Designed with a low-profile, lightweight architecture, Starlink Aero Terminals can be installed within hours, significantly reducing aircraft downtime compared to traditional connectivity systems. Building on this capability, flyExclusive MRO is now targeting a steady installation cadence of five to seven days per aircraft as it scales deployment across its fleet and third-party customer base.
Starlink’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation represents a major leap forward in onboard connectivity performance. Unlike legacy systems dependent on geostationary satellites or ground-based infrastructure, the Starlink network delivers high-speed broadband with download speeds ranging between 135 and 310 Mbps, coupled with latency below 99 milliseconds. This enables seamless access to bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming, video conferencing, and online gaming, capabilities that are rapidly becoming baseline expectations among premium passengers.
The development reflects a broader shift within the business aviation segment, where connectivity is no longer viewed as a supplementary feature but as a core component of the cabin experience. As operators compete to differentiate through passenger comfort and productivity, reliable high-speed internet is increasingly influencing aircraft selection decisions and long-term customer retention.
Commenting on the milestone, Jim Segrave, Founder, Chairman and CEO of flyExclusive, emphasised the company’s technical depth in avionics integration, noting that its experience enables rapid and compliant deployment of advanced connectivity systems while minimising aircraft downtime. The integration of Starlink, he added, also expands the commercial scope of the company’s MRO operations.
Beyond fleet upgrades, flyExclusive is strategically positioning connectivity installations as a standalone revenue stream. Under its authorised dealership agreement, the company has already secured a multi-aircraft installation contract from a third-party customer, signalling strong market interest in Starlink retrofits. This development aligns with a broader industry trend where MRO providers are diversifying into high-value cabin upgrades and digital solutions to enhance profitability.
Looking ahead, flyExclusive plans to continue the rollout of Starlink across its fleet while actively pursuing additional third-party installation opportunities. As demand for seamless, high-speed inflight connectivity continues to surge, the company’s early adoption and execution capability position it to play a significant role in shaping the next phase of cabin innovation.
