Hainan Airlines has been named the launch customer in China for Thompson Aero Seating’s Vantage full-flat business class seat platform. The seats will be installed on the airline’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, with entry into service expected in 2027.

The programme marks the first time Hainan Airlines will introduce a new-generation full-flat business class seat on its narrow-body fleet, reflecting a broader shift among airlines toward enhancing premium offerings on single-aisle aircraft.

According to the companies, the Vantage platform will be configured to meet the airline’s requirements, focusing on passenger comfort, privacy and cabin efficiency.

Tao Zhu, Chairman, Hainan Airlines, said: “We are pleased to partner with Thompson Aero Seating on the introduction of Vantage to our new narrow-body fleet. This new Business Class product reflects our continued commitment to delivering a high-quality travel experience for our passengers, combining comfort, functionality and thoughtful design.”

Keith Anderson, CEO, Thompson Aero Seating, added: “We are proud to partner with Hainan Airlines as the launch customer for Vantage in China. This programme represents an exciting opportunity to bring our platform to a key market, and to support Hainan Airlines in delivering a premium experience that meets the evolving expectations of today’s travellers.”

The agreement also signals Thompson Aero Seating’s continued expansion in the Chinese market, as airlines in the region invest in upgraded cabin products to compete on both domestic and regional routes.
