IndiGo has inducted an Airbus A321XLR into its fleet, introducing a long-range single-aisle cabin configured for extended international operations.
The aircraft arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, and will enter service on non-stop routes between Mumbai and Athens from 23 January 2026, followed by Delhi–Athens from 24 January 2026, with three weekly frequencies planned on each route.
The A321XLR is configured with a dual-class cabin comprising 12 IndiGoStretch seats and 183 Economy Class seats, designed to support extended-duration flights traditionally operated by widebody aircraft. IndiGoStretch is arranged in a 2×2 configuration with a 44-inch seat pitch and six inches of recline, while Economy Class offers a 31-inch pitch and five inches of recline.

Both cabins are equipped with seating from RECARO Aircraft Seating, with R5 seats installed in the IndiGoStretch cabin and R2 seats in Economy Class. The seating incorporates adjustable headrests, enhanced lumbar support, optimised cushioning, integrated device holders, in-seat power supply, and coat hooks to support passenger comfort on longer sectors.
For in-flight entertainment, IndiGo has selected a wireless in-flight entertainment system from Bluebox, accessible on passengers’ personal devices. The system offers a selection of Indian and international films, television programming, games, and animated content.
On the Athens routes, passengers in both cabins will receive complimentary hot meals and beverages. Vegetarian meals will be provided as standard, with non-vegetarian options available through pre-booking. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase or pre-order in Economy Class, while IndiGoStretch passengers will receive complimentary alcoholic drinks.
The Airbus A321XLR, part of the A321neo family, offers a range of up to 8,700 km, enabling longer international sectors using a single-aisle aircraft. IndiGo has a firm order for 40 A321XLR aircraft, with nine deliveries scheduled in calendar year 2026. Following initial deployment on the Athens routes, the aircraft type is expected to operate on longer services such as Istanbul and Denpasar (Bali).
The aircraft is powered by CFM LEAP engines, combining extended range with improved fuel efficiency to support long-haul narrowbody operations.
