RECARO and LATAM have collaborated to elevate the Boeing 787 (B787) cabin luxury with the innovative R7 premium mini-suite. This upgrade, which includes features designed to optimize the passenger experience, will see 20 R7 suites installed in LATAM’s B787-8 aircraft and 30 in its B787-9s, totaling 24 shipsets. The R7 suites will boast an increased shell height for enhanced privacy, complete with suite doors, making LATAM the first airline in South America to provide this level of comfort.

As one of the lightest business class suites certified for the B787, the R7 not only prioritizes passenger comfort but also contributes to sustainability through weight optimization—a key focus for the aviation industry. Each suite will be customized with recycled antimicrobial faux leather in unique colors, reflecting LATAM’s commitment to both style and environmental responsibility.

Mark Hiller, chief executive, RECARO Aircraft Seating, expressed pride in the partnership: “The collaboration between our teams has focused on enhancing passenger comfort and privacy with this bespoke R7 design. LATAM being the first South American airline to fly our R7 is a significant milestone.”
Paulo Miranda, vice president, customers at LATAM Airlines Group, highlighted the design’s attention to detail: “Our new cabins are crafted to provide a world-class travel experience. The new Premium Business seats mark a significant leap forward, combining comfort, privacy, and elegance. These renovations position LATAM as a leader in the industry, offering an unparalleled level of comfort and exclusivity to our passengers.”
With operations spanning over 140 destinations across 25 countries, LATAM Airlines maintains one of the most extensive networks in Latin America, including both domestic and international routes. This retrofit marks a significant step in the airline’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience for its customers.
