In a move that strengthens Poland’s position in the European aerospace interior supply chain, Recaro Aircraft Seating and LOT Polish Airlines have entered into a strategic agreement for the localized production of economy class seats. The partnership includes both retrofit and line-fit programs for Lot’s long- and short-haul fleets, with all seats to be produced at Recaro’s Świebodzin facility.
Under this arrangement, Recaro’s R3 seat will be installed on the Boeing 787-8 economy class cabins as part of a retrofit program, while the R2 seat will be fitted on Lot’s Boeing 737 MAX8 and regional jets. The collaboration was first revealed during the 2025 Paris Air Show, aligning with Recaro’s “in the region, for the region” philosophy that promotes localized manufacturing for enhanced agility and sustainability.
Passenger-focused design with Polish craftsmanship
The newly selected R2 seat, tailored for narrowbody operations, delivers both functional and aesthetic upgrades. Key features include:
- LOT’s signature blue genuine leather covers
- Discreet embroidered insignia on the seatback seam
- Six-way adjustable headrest for ergonomic support
- Four-inch recline on the 737 MAX8 layout
- Comfort cushions, BYOD holders, and Astronics high-power USB-C ports
Meanwhile, the R3 retrofit on the 787-8 emphasizes lightweight construction and long-haul passenger comfort, aligning with Lot’s cabin refresh initiatives focused on sustainability, space optimization, and brand continuity.
A win for regional industry and passenger experience
“Choosing Recaro seats for Lot’s new aircraft is a decision based on passenger comfort, quality, and convenience. Importantly, they are made in Poland,” said Michał Fijoł, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. “Producing the seats in Świebodzin supports jobs in Poland and is a great example of successful international cooperation with strong local roots.”
