Lufthansa’s first Boeing 787-9 featuring the new Allegris cabin product has landed in Frankfurt, marking the start of a fleet modernization push at the airline’s largest hub. The aircraft, arriving from Seattle, will enter scheduled service on the Frankfurt–Toronto route from mid-October.
Lufthansa plans to base up to nine additional 787-9s in Frankfurt by year-end, equivalent to one new delivery every two weeks. In total, the airline has ordered 29 787-9s, forming part of a broader long-haul renewal program that will see 78 modern aircraft with Allegris interiors join the fleet.
“I am particularly pleased that we can now offer our guests the premium Allegris experience in Frankfurt,” said Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines. “With the arrival of the Boeing 787-9 today, the modernization of our long-haul fleet at our largest hub is now also receiving a major boost. This will enable us to use significantly quieter and fuel-efficient aircraft types featuring the latest technology for our guests in Frankfurt as well.”

The Dreamliner consumes just 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger per 100 km, which is around 25% less than its predecessor type, and features quieter operations.
The Allegris cabin introduces new standards in all classes, including Business Class suites with chest-high privacy walls, a 27-inch monitor, personal wardrobe, and minibar. Premium Economy and Economy Class seats are already available for booking, while Allegris Business Class on the Dreamliner will open for sale following certification.
The product has been in service on long-haul flights from Munich since summer 2024, with more than half a million passengers having flown on Allegris-equipped aircraft to date.
