The development at Miami Executive Airport will feature a premium FBO terminal, up to 400,000 square feet of hangar space, a fuel farm and a new home for the Wings Over Miami Air Museum.
Ocean Aviation, backed by Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, broke ground on 7 October 2026 on a new private aviation campus at Miami Executive Airport (KTMB), marking a $67 million investment in South Florida’s general aviation infrastructure.
The development is planned to include a premium fixed-base operator (FBO) terminal, communal and private aircraft hangars offering capacity for up to 400,000 square feet of hangar space, and a fuel farm. The project will also feature a 32,000-square-foot common-use taxi lane and a shared ramp serving US Customs and Border Protection.
Designed to support private aircraft owners, corporate flight departments and international operators, the campus will expand aircraft storage and operational capacity at Miami Executive Airport while modernising its airside and landside facilities.
A premium gateway for private aviation
At the centre of the development will be Ocean Aviation’s new FBO, envisioned as a gateway for private, corporate and general aviation customers. The facility will be complemented by communal and private hangar configurations, providing additional infrastructure for aircraft storage and operations.
The project comes as Ocean Aviation expands its presence across South Florida. Established in 2024, the company secured a 40-year, 40-acre ground lease at Miami Executive Airport. In September 2026, it acquired National Jets at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (KFLL), which will continue operating under its existing name.
Together, the two locations will form a dual-airport network serving the Miami–Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area.
Romain Grosjean, Executive Chairman of Ocean Aviation, said the groundbreaking marked a defining milestone for the company, enabling it to develop a flagship aviation campus centred on aircraft owners, operators and flight departments.
He added that the company’s approach is built around exceptional service, thoughtful design and operational excellence, with the aim of establishing new standards for the private aviation experience in South Florida.
Aviation heritage and community infrastructure
The development will also provide a new home for the Wings Over Miami Air Museum, which preserves and displays historic aircraft and aviation artefacts while supporting aviation education and maintaining South Florida’s aviation heritage.
The shared taxi lane and ramp serving U.S. Customs and Border Protection are intended to support aircraft movements and international general aviation operations at the airport.
David Chene, Managing Partner at Kennedy Lewis Investment Management, said the project reflects the investment firm’s continued confidence in the South Florida market. He cited the long-term ground lease and Miami Executive Airport’s growing role as a general aviation port of entry as important elements of the investment.
Chene also highlighted the potential for the development to support employment and economic growth across the region.
Design-build delivery
Lemartec will lead project delivery through a design-build model, with Schenkel Shultz serving as the design partner. The integrated approach brings together aviation planning, design and construction expertise to address the operational requirements of the FBO and associated facilities.
Manny Garcia-Tuñón, Group President at Lemartec, said the company was pleased to partner on the development and support Miami-Dade County and the Miami-Dade Aviation Department through the private investment.
Once developed, the campus is intended to strengthen Ocean Aviation’s position in the South Florida private aviation market, combining premium FBO services, aircraft storage and supporting infrastructure within a single development.
