As part of its ongoing transformation and fleet renewal program, Qantas has leading appointed Australian fashion designer Rebecca Vallance to create the airline’s new uniform. This marks the first comprehensive overhaul of the Qantas uniform in more than a decade, aligning with the airline’s largest fleet update in history and future long-haul expansion plans.
Vallance was chosen following a rigorous competitive pitch process and will lead the design of a completely new look to be worn by Qantas’ 17,500+ uniformed employees across operational divisions, including pilots, cabin crew, airport staff, and engineers.
This uniform redesign coincides with Qantas’ wider strategic developments, including the introduction of 20 new Airbus A321XLR aircraft and preparations for Project Sunrise, the airline’s ambitious plan to launch ultra-long-haul services connecting Australia directly with major cities such as New York and London. The updated uniform is set to become a visible symbol of Qantas’ next-generation identity both on the ground and in the air.

Earlier in 2025, Qantas undertook an extensive internal consultation process, surveying its frontline employees to gain insights into how the current uniform performs in real-world conditions. Feedback focused on durability, comfort, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. This input will now guide Vallance and her team through the design phase to ensure the new collection not only reflects the airline’s evolving brand but meets the operational needs of its staff.

Qantas Group CEO Vanessa Hudson commented on the significance of the redesign: “Our uniform represents the Qantas spirit all over the world. We’re proud to be working with Rebecca Vallance to define the new look and to reflect where Qantas is heading.”
“We want the new uniform to reflect the pride our team feel when they wear it, and this redesign is a collaborative journey that will be shaped by our people every step of the way,” Hudson added.
Rebecca Vallance, whose brand is known for its polished tailoring and refined style, shared her vision for the project: “To be entrusted with this redesign is a huge milestone for me personally and for my brand. I am looking forward to creating something iconic, yet wearable, while celebrating the people who make this airline such a beloved part of Australia’s story.
“This is a defining moment in my career, not just because of the scale of the project, but because of the trust Qantas has placed in me. It’s a partnership I am deeply grateful for.”
The new Rebecca Vallance-designed Qantas uniform is scheduled for rollout in 2027, replacing the current design by Martin Grant, which has been in service since 2014. Vallance joins a prestigious lineage of designers who have shaped the look of Qantas uniforms over the decades, including Peter Morrissey, Yves Saint Laurent, George Gross and Harry Who, and Emilio Pucci.
The new uniform is expected to play a key role in visually expressing the renewed identity of Qantas as it moves into a new chapter of operational excellence, long-haul connectivity, and modern passenger experience.
