Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced a multi-year, S$1.1 billion investment to upgrade the cabins of 41 of its Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft. The ambitious project will elevate the in-flight experience for passengers across all classes, with a special focus on its premium offerings.
SIA is embarking on a transformative journey to redefine the flying experience for passengers on its fleet of 41 Airbus A350-900 long-haul and ultra-long-range (ULR) aircraft. From sleek, luxurious First Class suites to enhanced Business and Economy cabins, the airline is setting a new standard in premium travel, focusing on comfort, innovation, and personalized service.
A First Class Like No Other
SIA is introducing an entirely new First Class cabin across its seven A350-900ULR aircraft for passengers craving the ultimate comfort. As the aircraft will operate on the world’s longest flights, and the new First Class cabins are designed to match the journey. Offering luxurious, spacious seats that promise an unrivaled level of privacy and relaxation, these seats are crafted for the discerning traveler who expects more from every mile flown. Think of it as the new benchmark for in-flight luxury.
The new first-class seats will make a statement not just in comfort but also in design. With an emphasis on privacy, modern aesthetics, and ergonomic features, these cabins are poised to make a lasting impression on even the most seasoned travelers. Whether for rest or work, passengers will find themselves in a cabin that’s built to cater to every need.

Business Class Gets a Major Upgrade
But it’s not just First Class that’s getting a facelift. Business Class customers will also benefit from SIA’s innovation with brand-new seats that offer even greater privacy, comfort, and convenience. These new Business Class seats will feature a layout designed for a more personalized experience, allowing passengers to unwind or focus on work with ease. Expect sleek designs and improved features that deliver a perfect balance between style and practicality.
These upgrades will be available on all 41 of SIA’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft, and they’re not stopping there. The same designs will be featured on SIA’s upcoming Boeing 777-9 aircraft, marking a new era for the airline’s fleet.
Refreshing the Premium Economy and Economy Experience
The Premium Economy and Economy Class cabins will also receive a fresh look, promising more comfort and a superior experience for all travelers. From more space to thoughtful touches in design, the updated cabins will make long-haul travel more enjoyable for everyone on board, regardless of class.
In addition to the physical upgrades to its cabins, Singapore Airlines is enhancing its in-flight entertainment system, KrisWorld. The new version will offer greater personalization and a wider variety of lifestyle options across all cabins. Whether it’s catching up on the latest shows, diving into a documentary, or finding the perfect playlist, the new KrisWorld promises to make the in-flight experience even more engaging and tailored to individual tastes.

Goh Choon Phong, chief executive, of Singapore Airlines, shared that this significant investment stems from years of customer feedback, ensuring the new cabin products cater to evolving traveler needs. “Over the past six years, we have extensively engaged customers and stakeholders in the design of our next-generation long-haul cabin products,” he said. “The new First Class and Business Class seat designs will incorporate thoughtful elements that push the boundaries of comfort, luxury, and modernity.”
The new cabin products, combined with the warm hospitality of the airline’s crew, aim to set a new industry standard for air travel. The retrofitting of the A350-900 aircraft will be carried out by SIA Engineering Company in Singapore, with the first upgraded long-haul A350 expected to enter service in the second quarter of 2026. The first A350-900ULR, which will feature the new First Class cabin, is slated to take to the skies in early 2027. The entire retrofit program is set to be completed by the end of 2030.
Once complete, the 34 A350-900 long-haul aircraft will be configured with 42 Business Class seats, 24 Premium Economy Class seats, and 192 Economy Class seats. Meanwhile, the seven A350-900ULR variants will feature four luxurious First Class seats, 70 Business Class seats, and 58 Premium Economy Class seats.
