In a bold stride toward reimagining the inflight experience, TUI Airlines has partnered with Immfly, a global leader in digital onboard solutions, to roll out a next-generation inflight digital platform. This transformation will be deployed across up to 60 Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 aircraft by Summer 2025, offering passengers unprecedented access to connectivity, curated content, and real-time e-commerce capabilities—all from the comfort of their personal devices.

The partnership marks a significant leap in TUI Airlines’ digital evolution and establishes it as the first German carrier to integrate Immfly’s cutting-edge technology. At the heart of this initiative lies the ambition to deliver a seamless, immersive in-flight ecosystem tailored to the needs of modern holidaymakers.

What’s Onboard: The New Passenger Experience

TUI passengers will enjoy an interactive, mobile-first inflight platform offering:

  • Real-Time Messaging: Passengers can stay connected via WhatsApp during the flight, powered by Immfly’s pioneering use of Iridium Certus satellite connectivity.
  • TUI Musement Integration: Guests can browse and book experiences, activities, and tickets mid-flight, turning the aircraft cabin into a gateway for planning the perfect holiday itinerary.
  • Premium Content: A selection of new-release films, TV series, podcasts, games, and more, available for a small fee.
  • Future Capabilities: The chosen infrastructure supports instant payment validation, opening doors to seat-based e-commerce, including onboard food and beverage ordering and dynamic retail offerings.

“Partnering with TUI represents a bold step forward in shaping the future of the in-flight experience,” said Pablo Linz, chief executive, Immfly. “With Equilux Aero’s revolutionary cabin hardware and our cutting-edge IFEC software, we’re setting new standards for passenger connectivity. We’re also deeply grateful to Boeing, Iridium, and Meta for their unwavering support in making this vision a reality.”

A Flexible, Future-Proof System

The deployment utilizes Immfly’s antenna-agnostic onboard architecture, allowing TUI to build flexibility into its long-term connectivity roadmap. Currently, the system operates via Iridium Certus LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellites offering a low-cost, globally available solution. The modular design allows TUI to seamlessly upgrade to high-speed broadband without cabin overhauls.

“This partnership with Immfly underscores our commitment to continuously enhance the in-flight experience with innovative, technology-driven solutions,” said Jill Nye, director, Customer, Crew, and Inflight Services at TUI Airline. “Immfly has proven to be the ideal partner, customizing their solution to meet our specific needs, allowing a consistent customer experience across our European-wide fleet. We’re also thrilled to announce that TUI Musement experiences will be available onboard, offering our customers a new way to plan their holiday moments during their flight.”

A Revenue-Generating Digital Cabin

Immfly’s modular platform brings together retail, entertainment, and connectivity into a single, scalable in-flight ecosystem. Designed with airline flexibility in mind, the system supports:

  • Seamless integration with third-party APIs and payment systems
  • Tailored content management and branding
  • Custom advertising and onboard retail opportunities

The solution transforms the aircraft cabin into a revenue-generating digital space, all while enhancing customer satisfaction and streamlining in-flight operations.

The TUI–Immfly collaboration is more than a tech upgrade; it’s a visionary leap into digital aviation. With a focus on personalization, scalability, and monetization, this partnership sets the tone for the future of in-flight digital services, especially within the leisure travel segment. As airlines around the world seek to modernize their cabin environments, this initiative demonstrates how strategic tech integration can yield both passenger delight and operational value.
