Air France is rolling out an elevated cabin experience by unveiling new gourmet menus crafted by esteemed French chefs for long-haul flights departing from Paris–Charles de Gaulle. This initiative highlights the airline’s ongoing commitment to premium dining as a visible point of cabin differentiation

La Première (First Class): Michelin‑three-starred chef Arnaud Lallement, joined by world pastry champion Angelo Musa, leads the fresh menus. Offerings include luxurious starters such as langoustine with lemon caviar, and high-end mains like cheese ravioli in parmesan sauce. Their seasonal creations—four starters and eight mains underscore indulgence and emotional connection through food

Business Class: Backed by triple Michelin-starred Régis Marcon and pastry maestro Nina Métayer, the business cabin menu showcases nature-inspired European dishes. Highlights include Camargue rice with citrus dressing, salmon–prawn royale, and sixteen curated entrées, all complemented with inventive dessert options. Importantly, Air France now provides a pre-choose service, allowing passengers to select their main up to 24 hours beforehand to reduce food waste—a smart blend of sustainability and service control.

Premium Economy: Michelin-starred Frédéric Simonin continues his collaboration, featuring refined seasonal plates. New creations range from shellfish with pasta and wild rice to prawn dishes with tomato and squid-ink rice. These are now available on flights from Paris as well as key destinations in the French Caribbean and Indian Ocean.

Why cabin operators should pay attention

  • Experience-centered differentiation: By integrating haute cuisine into cabin offerings, Air France underscores its luxury identity—positioning onboard catering as a strategic asset rather than a cost center.
  • Operational efficiency & sustainability: The pre-order model aligns with demand-driven catering, minimizing waste and increasing inventory control effectively blending premium service with operational discipline
  • Local sourcing & brand authenticity: Air France is emphasizing French-origin meat, dairy, eggs, and sustainably sourced fish in collaboration with Servair. This alignment with origin-based storytelling strengthens brand and product narrative.
  • Modular Cabin Integration: Gourmet food offers enhanced touchpoints for cabin modules, from galley redesigns to service flow logistics, enriching both soft amenities and interior architecture strategy.

Strategic outlook for

  1. Integrate culinary planning with cabin layout: As menus become more intricate, cabin designers must consider galley capacity, storage zones, crew access, and efficient plating flow.
  2. Support Pre-Order mechanisms: Meal selection platforms should be tied seamlessly to cabin operations, requiring intuitive interfaces for crew and precise delivery pathways in the galley.
  3. Enhance sustainability messaging: Leveraging menu origin stories and limiting raw-material waste align with broader cabin sustainability goals—use these narratives in seatback IFE and printed materials.
  4. Position fine fining as a competitive edge: Airlines exploring premium value propositions should leverage multimodal cues, lighting, texture, plating, and mood in cabin zones to reinforce luxury positioning.

Air France’s move to employ renowned chefs across cabin classes is more than a culinary upgrade; it is a strategic cabin enhancement. By elevating food offerings in sync with service flow and interior ambiance, Air France is ensuring that its cabins stand out in both experience and design sophistication.
