Emirates is accelerating the rollout of its next-generation cabin products, with its Premium Economy and refreshed Business Class seats being deployed across more services in the Middle East and West Asia. The latest expansion sees retrofitted A380s and Boeing 777s, along with newly delivered A350s, introduced on routes to Amman, Mumbai, Muscat, and Bahrain, ensuring a consistent onboard product for connecting passengers.
Cabin experience: Premium Economy in focus
The airline’s Premium Economy cabin, which has been a standout in the industry, features:
- Cream leather seats with up to 40 inches of pitch
- 19.5-inch seat width and 8 inches of recline
- Adjustable calf and foot rests
- 6-way adjustable headrests
- In-seat charging ports and a 13.3-inch personal IFE screen

These design elements aim to bridge the gap between Economy and Business by prioritising comfort, space, and ergonomics without compromising density.

Business Class has also been refreshed on retrofitted aircraft, featuring a new generation of lie-flat seats in a 1-2-1 configuration on the 777 and upgraded finishes on the A380, aligned with Emirates’ premium brand design language.
Retrofit programme: One of the largest in aviation history
The backbone of this product expansion is Emirates’ retrofit initiative, which is among the most ambitious cabin upgrade programmes ever attempted. Key milestones include:
- 219 aircraft scheduled for refurbishment: 110 A380s and 109 Boeing 777s
- 67 aircraft have already completed
- Completion rate: one aircraft every three weeks
The retrofit scope includes:
- Installation of 56 Premium Economy seats on A380s and 24 on Boeing 777s
- Refreshed Business Class and Economy cabins, including new seat covers, wood veneer finishes, and updated mood lighting
- Refurbished lavatories with updated fittings and finishes

Scaling up availability
By the end of 2025, Emirates projects offering over 2 million Premium Economy seats annually, expanding availability to 68 cities, with 36 destinations exclusively served by aircraft fitted with the new cabin. Currently, more than 1.8 million Premium Economy seats are already available across its network.
For Emirates, the retrofit is not just about adding a new cabin, but about ensuring consistency across its long-haul fleet. The addition of Premium Economy and refreshed Business Class cabins on retrofitted A380s and 777s allows connecting passengers via Dubai to enjoy a seamless experience, regardless of aircraft type.
