Turkish low-cost carrier AJet has begun installing TCI Aircraft Interiors’ multi-orbit capable Ka-band inflight connectivity (IFC) system, marking a key milestone in the airline’s cabin digitalisation programme.
A Boeing 737 MAX 8 (TC-LAJ) is the first aircraft in AJet’s fleet to be equipped with TCI’s connectivity solution, according to the Turkish cabin interiors specialist. The installation represents the initial operational deployment following TCI’s agreement to support fleet-wide connectivity for the carrier.
TCI Aircraft Interiors was formed through the 2023 merger of TCI Cabin Interior, TSI Seats, and Cornea, and maintains close operational alignment with Turkish Airlines.
Fleet-wide IFC programme
The rollout follows an announcement made earlier this year at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, where TCI confirmed a partnership with Hughes Network Systems and long-standing Hughes collaborator Türksat to deliver IFC across more than 120 AJet aircraft. The programme covers both current Airbus and Boeing narrowbodies, as well as future fleet growth.
Under the agreement, Hughes is supplying the onboard connectivity equipment, including a multi-orbit capable terminal based on ThinKom Solutions’ Ka2517 VICTS antenna and Kontron hardware, alongside Hughes’ IFC management platform. Ka-band satellite services will be provided by state-owned Türksat, which operates a predominantly geostationary satellite fleet.
Multi-orbit ready
The Ka2517 VICTS terminal is designed for multi-orbit operations and is already supporting MEO/GEO connectivity for other airline customers. Airlines installing the terminal will also have the option to integrate LEO services, including Telesat Lightspeed, once those networks become available, enabling hybrid LEO/GEO connectivity.
AJet operations
AJet currently operates a fleet of 95 aircraft, serving 99 destinations across Europe and the Middle East from its base at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. Formerly known as AnadoluJet, the airline has not yet begun marketing in-flight Wi-Fi to passengers, and the newly equipped 737 MAX has not yet returned to active service.

The AJet retrofit programme marks a significant step for TCI Aircraft Interiors, which offers a portfolio spanning aircraft seating, in-flight entertainment, and cabin digital solutions.
