Akasa Air is once again turning cabin travel into a cultural experience with the launch of the fourth edition of its Sankranti Special Meal under its onboard dining brand, Café Akasa. Designed to celebrate the warmth and flavours of Makar Sankranti, the limited-period festive menu reflects the airline’s growing focus on curated in-flight experiences that connect passengers to India’s rich culinary traditions.

Available from January 1 to January 31, 2026, the Sankranti Special Meal draws inspiration from regional festive kitchens and presents a carefully balanced combination of savoury and sweet elements. The main offering features soft, flavourful Theplas served with a traditional stuffed brinjal curry, complemented by the Bengali festive dessert Patali Gurer Patishapta, a delicacy made with jaggery and rice flour that is closely associated with winter harvest celebrations. The meal is paired with a beverage of the passenger’s choice, completing a wholesom,e festive dining experience at cruising altitude.

The special meal can be pre-booked across Akasa Air’s entire network through the airline’s website and mobile application, allowing travellers to plan their onboard dining and enjoy festival-themed meals even while in transit.

By introducing seasonal menus such as the Sankranti Special Meal, Akasa Air continues to strengthen its cabin product proposition through thoughtful in-flight hospitality. Since commencing operations in August 2022, the airline has consistently rolled out limited-edition festive menus that celebrate regional and national occasions, transforming in-flight dining into a storytelling platform rooted in Indian culture.

Café Akasa has previously introduced curated offerings for a wide range of celebrations, including Valentine’s Day, Holi, Eid, Mother’s Day, International Yoga Day, the Monsoon season, Navroz, Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Diwali, Children’s Day, and Christmas. In addition, the airline offers a pre-selection of cakes on its regular menu, enabling passengers to celebrate birthdays and special moments while onboard.

Supporting these limited-edition offerings is Café Akasa’s frequently refreshed in-flight menu, which currently features more than 45 meal options spanning fusion meals, regionally inspired appetisers and indulgent desserts. All menu items are curated in collaboration with reputed chefs from across India, reinforcing Akasa Air’s commitment to delivering a refined, flavour-forward and culturally resonant cabin dining experience.

Through initiatives such as the Sankranti Special Meal, Akasa Air is positioning its cabin interiors and inflight service proposition as not just functional, but emotionally engaging, thus allowing travellers to experience the comfort, nostalgia and joy of Indian festivities, even at 35,000 feet.
