Deutsche Aircraft has announced the appointment of Wolfgang Kuhl as Vice President Programs & Innovation, reinforcing its leadership team as the D328eco enters a critical phase of development and industrialisation.
Kuhl brings deep programme-level expertise and continuity to the role, having served as Director of the D328eco programme since 2023. During this period, he was instrumental in advancing key design milestones, progressing industrialisation efforts, and supporting the re-industrialisation of the legacy Dornier 328 platform.
His appointment comes at a pivotal juncture as Deutsche Aircraft accelerates the transition from development to execution, with a clear focus on delivering a next-generation regional turboprop aligned with evolving market and sustainability requirements.

In his new role, Kuhl will oversee the company’s full programme portfolio while driving its long-term product roadmap. This includes not only the maturation of the D328eco platform but also the development of multi-role variants, including defence-oriented applications such as the D328MR.
His prior experience at Airbus Defence and Space, where he contributed to complex multinational UAV programmes, is expected to strengthen Deutsche Aircraft’s capability to manage large-scale, multi-domain aerospace projects.
From an MRO perspective, the continued evolution of the D328eco programme has direct implications for long-term fleet support, maintenance planning, and aftermarket services. As the programme advances, the integration of modern systems and advanced technologies is expected to enhance maintainability, improve reliability, and enable more efficient lifecycle management.
At the same time, Deutsche Aircraft’s commitment to supporting the existing Dornier 328 fleet ensures continuity in spares availability, technical support, and maintenance solutions, critical for operators managing ageing regional aircraft.
The development of multi-role and defence variants further introduces additional maintenance complexity, including mission-specific systems integration and specialised support requirements, creating opportunities for MRO providers with capabilities in both civil and defence domains.
Kuhl will also lead cross-functional innovation initiatives, focusing on the integration of advanced technologies and sustainability-driven solutions. The D328eco programme is positioned as a climate-conscious regional aircraft, with emphasis on fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and future-ready propulsion considerations.
