China Airlines has introduced a new Premium Economy Class cabin for its upcoming Boeing 787 passenger aircraft, featuring updated seating, inflight entertainment and connectivity systems as part of the aircraft interior design programme.
The Premium Economy cabin will feature 28 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. The design incorporates Taiwanese cultural and landscape-inspired elements, with seat fabrics, cabin materials and lighting reflecting local themes.

Each seat is equipped with a six-way adjustable headrest with integrated privacy wings, a footrest and a tray table featuring China Airlines’ persimmon wood-grain finish. The tray table also includes an anti-slip coating and can be used as a stand for personal mobile devices.
For inflight entertainment, passengers will have access to a 15.6-inch 4K display. The system supports Bluetooth connectivity for personal headphones and mobile devices. China Airlines said passengers will also be able to use smartphones and tablets to control the inflight entertainment system.

The airline displayed the new Premium Economy seat during COMPUTEX 2026 in Taipei through a collaboration with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and GQ Taiwan. The exhibit provided visitors and industry stakeholders an opportunity to view the product ahead of its entry into service on the Boeing 787 fleet.
