India’s low-cost carrier, Akasa Air, has unveiled redesigned uniforms for its ground services team, marking the next step in its journey to create a unified and cohesive brand identity across all departments. The refreshed look, conceptualized by noted designer Rajesh Pratap Singh, will be rolled out across the airline’s engineering, cargo, security, and airport services teams.
The new uniforms are designed to visually align with the airline’s existing cabin crew and pilot attire, creating a consistent design language across every frontline role. Featuring a distinct purple colour palette, the uniforms reinforce Akasa Air’s youthful and contemporary brand image while ensuring a strong sense of visual continuity throughout its operations.
Designed for comfort, functionality, and sustainability
Functionality and comfort were at the heart of the redesign process. The updated uniforms use upgraded fabric compositions that enhance breathability and flexibility, ensuring ease of movement during long working hours. Akasa Air continues to incorporate recycled materials in its trousers, reflecting its ongoing commitment to sustainability.

The airline has also maintained its gender-neutral design philosophy, emphasizing simplicity, inclusivity, and adaptability across roles. The new collection draws directly from employee feedback, integrating practical insights from ground staff to ensure comfort, wearability, and durability in all working conditions.
According to Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Akasa Air, the redesign underscores the airline’s focus on people and culture. “At Akasa Air, our people are at the heart of everything we do. The redesign of our ground services team uniforms reflects our commitment towards creating a cohesive, comfortable, and contemporary identity across our frontline departments. Every element, from the fabric to the fit, has been thoughtfully considered to meet the functional needs of our team members while embodying our brand’s progressive and inclusive spirit,” Coutinho said.
He added that the initiative represents another step in building a community-driven, progressive, and employee-first workplace, one where design and purpose align to enhance both staff well-being and the passenger experience.
Akasa Air stated that the redesigned uniforms strengthen visual cohesion between ground services, cabin crew, and pilots, tying together the airline’s identity across all operational touchpoints.
“The new uniforms adopt a striking purple hue, ensuring a visually cohesive palette across all ground service departments,” the airline said in a statement. “With an upgraded fabric composition, comfort has been significantly enhanced while maintaining wearability and ease of movement.”
By integrating shared design cues across departments, Akasa Air continues to elevate its brand storytelling through uniform design merging functionality, inclusivity, and sustainability in a way that reflects the airline’s modern and people-first ethos.
