American Airlines is upgrading the passenger experience across its regional fleet, aiming to bring mainline-level comfort, connectivity, and consistency to short-haul flights.
As part of a phased rollout starting this fall, passengers on Embraer 175 and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft will notice refreshed interiors, updated seat coverings, in-seat power, and fast gate-to-gate Wi-Fi. By early 2026, the full dual-class regional fleet, comprising more than 300 aircraft, will feature high-speed satellite Wi-Fi, with complimentary access available to AAdvantage members starting in January.
The cabin refresh is designed to align regional aircraft with the mainline fleet, providing modern, comfortable seating and a consistent look and feel. Snack offerings have also been standardized, including a new midday snack basket for premium passengers, and AAdvantage members can redeem miles for in-flight purchases across all flights.

In addition, American is collaborating with Embraer to introduce larger overhead bins on select regional aircraft, improving carry-on storage and streamlining boarding.
These upgrades apply to all CRJ700, CRJ900, E170, and E175 aircraft operated by American’s regional carriers, with retrofits expected to be completed over the coming years. According to Heather Garboden, Chief Customer Officer, the improvements reflect the airline’s commitment to seamless, connected, and comfortable travel, regardless of flight length.
