Daher has introduced the TBM 980, the latest upgrade of its single-engine turboprop family, placing a strong emphasis on human-machine interface design and passenger comfort enhancements.

Revealed at the manufacturer’s Aircraft Division headquarters and TBM production facility in Tarbes, France, the TBM 980 introduces Garmin’s third-generation G3000 PRIME avionics, marking a significant shift toward a fully touchscreen-based cockpit environment.

The flight deck features three 14-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen displays, designed to simplify pilot interaction through a clean, intuitive interface and configurable presets. According to Daher, the system improves cockpit ergonomics while reducing workload, aligning with broader industry trends toward more digital, tactile flight deck experiences.

Beyond the cockpit, the TBM 980 incorporates cabin upgrades aimed at enhancing the passenger journey, particularly in terms of connectivity and device integration. The aircraft offers the option to install a Starlink Mini terminal, enabling satellite-based internet connectivity, while 100-watt USB-C charging ports support the increasing power demands of personal electronic devices.

Passengers also benefit from an upgraded Passenger Comfort Display, providing enroute information to enhance situational awareness and engagement during flight, features increasingly expected even in smaller business and personal aircraft.

“Our Fly Differently philosophy is reflected in how the TBM 980 reshapes both the pilot and passenger experience,” said Nicolas Chabbert, CEO of the Daher Aircraft Division. “The touchscreen cockpit changes the way pilots interact with avionics, while the cabin enhancements raise the bar for comfort and connectivity.”

The TBM 980 retains the proven platform of the TBM 900 series, including systems such as Daher’s e-copilot architecture, which integrates automated safety and monitoring functions, including emergency descent and HomeSafe emergency autoland capability.

The aircraft has received certification from both EASA and the FAA, allowing Daher to begin customer deliveries this month. As of the end of 2025, more than 1,290 TBM aircraft had been delivered worldwide.
