flydubai has taken a major step forward in redefining the onboard digital experience with the signing of an agreement to equip its fleet with SpaceX’s Starlink high-speed, low-latency broadband service. The airline will introduce the technology across its Boeing 737 fleet, with installations for 100 aircraft scheduled to begin in 2026, marking one of the region’s most ambitious inflight connectivity upgrades.

The integration of Starlink’s satellite network will allow Flydubai to offer passengers a seamless, fibre-like internet experience in the sky, supporting HD streaming, online gaming, video conferencing, and real-time digital services without latency constraints. The move positions Flydubai among a growing group of carriers adopting next-generation LEO (low Earth orbit) connectivity to elevate inflight entertainment and communication (IFEC) standards.

flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said the partnership reflects the airline’s long-term commitment to enhancing comfort, convenience and digital engagement onboard. “We are proud to bring Starlink’s cutting-edge technology to our customers. This agreement marks a major milestone in our efforts to elevate the travel experience, providing fast, reliable internet access across our growing network. As we continue to expand our fleet and footprint, innovation remains at the heart of our strategy,” he said.

With flydubai now operating to more than 100 destinations, the rollout of Starlink will ensure passengers remain connected, productive and entertained from take-off to landing, regardless of route.

For flydubai passengers, this means uninterrupted access to bandwidth-intensive applications, a significant leap from conventional geostationary satellite solutions.

Chad Gibbs, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, highlighted the transformative nature of the agreement: “We’re excited to team up with flydubai and bring Starlink to its entire fleet. Our technology delivers connectivity that is similar, if not better, than what you experience at home. This partnership ensures a seamless internet experience for passengers and crew as they work, relax and travel.”

Starlink’s hardware is also designed for fast integration, allowing flydubai to complete aircraft installations in hours instead of days, helping the airline accelerate its 2026 deployment timeline.

In addition to passenger benefits, Starlink’s high-throughput network supports real-time operational communication, enhancing cabin crew efficiency and strengthening the overall onboard service model.

Daniel Kerrison, flydubai’s Senior Vice President of Inflight Operations, noted the dual impact: “Fast, free internet isn’t just a game changer for our customers, it gives our crew the real-time information they need to deliver exceptional service. Dubai is a global leader in innovation and hospitality, and Starlink is another enabler in our mission to bring the world to Dubai and share the spirit of our home.”

flydubai’s adoption of Starlink represents a major upgrade in Middle Eastern IFEC innovation and sets a new benchmark for narrow-body connectivity across short- and medium-haul networks. By 2026, the majority of flydubai’s Boeing 737 fleet is expected to offer Starlink-powered Wi-Fi, transforming the digital cabin experience and strengthening the airline’s position as a leader in passenger-centric innovation.
