In a major step towards redefining passenger experience on long-range narrowbody flights, IndiGo has partnered with Bluebox Aviation Systems to offer a next-generation digital in-flight entertainment (IFE) platform aboard its upcoming Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The first of these aircraft is scheduled to enter service on the Mumbai–Athens route from January 23, 2026, marking IndiGo’s debut in long-haul operations and India’s first direct connection to Greece.
The collaboration will see Bluebox’s modular digital services platform, Blueview, integrated directly into Airbus’ Open Software Platform (OSP) as a line-fit solution, eliminating the need for post-delivery retrofitting. This makes IndiGo the first Indian airline to introduce a fully digital inflight experience from the aircraft’s inaugural flight.

Powered by Blueview, IndiGo’s A321XLR cabins will offer passengers a seamless, device-based entertainment ecosystem accessible directly from their personal electronic devices (PEDs). The system includes:
- A rich library of movies, television content, audio programmes, and games,
- An interactive moving map for real-time flight tracking,
- A graphically engaging user interface (GUI) aligned with IndiGo’s brand aesthetics, and
- Digital dining menus for easy onboard browsing and selection.
Kevin Clark, CEO of Bluebox Aviation Systems, highlighted the significance of the OSP integration, noting: “Airbus’ Open Software Platform allows airlines to harness powerful, integrated software environments as standard. With Blueview, IndiGo will be able to offer passengers a seamless and engaging digital experience from day one, with the capability to evolve alongside passenger expectations in the years ahead.”
The deployment represents a strategic leap for IndiGo as it transitions from short- and medium-haul operations to long-range routes using the A321XLR’s extended capabilities. The airline’s investment in digital cabin technology aligns with its commitment to enhancing comfort, connectivity, and convenience for the growing segment of international travelers.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer of IndiGo, said: “We are delighted to introduce engaging inflight entertainment on our A321XLR fleet, which our customers will be able to experience on their own personal electronic devices. By enabling access to a wide range of entertainment options, we are confident this solution adds significant value to our customers’ onboard experience, making it more enjoyable.”
The partnership between IndiGo and Bluebox underscores a broader industry shift towards personalized, wireless, and platform-based inflight experiences that deliver flexibility for airlines and convenience for passengers, a key differentiator as narrowbody aircraft take on longer routes globally.
