SES is set to expand its in-flight connectivity (IFC) services across Asia through a new agreement with SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation for the full Ku-band capacity of the Superbird-C2 geostationary satellite.

Under the pact, Superbird-C2 will be repositioned from its current orbital slot at 144° East to a new location, with the added capacity expected to go live this winter. The move aims to enhance SES’s satellite network coverage over Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region, meeting the rising demand for high-speed connectivity among airlines.

Michael DeMarco, President, Aero Vertical at SES, said the collaboration builds on a partnership spanning more than two decades. “This expanded partnership allows us to deliver a leading in-flight experience, exceeding airline and passenger expectations across Asia,” he noted.

Tsutomu Kimura, Group President, Space Solution Business Group at SKY Perfect JSAT, said the deal reflects the growing IFC demand in the region. “Together with SES, we remain committed to meeting the expanding communication needs of airlines across the Asia-Pacific,” he added.

The agreement reinforces SES’s commitment to delivering best-in-class connectivity solutions for the aviation sector through its global multi-orbit satellite network.
