Japan Airlines has selected the R2 economy class seat from RECARO Aircraft Seating for its new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The R2 seats will be installed across the airline’s new narrowbody fleet, with features including USB Type-A and Type-C charging ports, a “bring your own device” (BYOD) holder, and redesigned seat cushions. The seats also include integrated headrests, dual literature pockets, and a larger tray table to support passenger use for work or dining.

Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating, said: “It is an honor for us to have been selected by Japan Airlines for its new Boeing 737 MAX-8 fleet. We share the same values regarding passenger travel experience and passenger comfort. This is a testament to our long-standing partnership of more than 15 years.”

The selection continues the long-term collaboration between the two companies and forms part of Japan Airlines’ fleet renewal programme.
