Salient Motion and Aviointeriors have announced a partnership to supply seat actuation control systems for the Allegra and Allegra HD business class seating platforms.

The agreement covers the development of a modular, software-based actuation system intended for use across both wide-body and narrow-body aircraft. The system is designed to support certification within a shorter timeframe compared to conventional seat actuation solutions.

The Allegra seating platform, which includes Allegra, Allegra HD, and Allegra Plus variants, is used for lie-flat business class configurations. These seats are compatible with multiple aircraft types, including Airbus and Boeing platforms.

According to the companies, the new actuation system will provide an alternative to existing suppliers in a segment where certification timelines and limited supplier options have affected seat programme delivery. Industry delays linked to seat certification have previously impacted aircraft deliveries, particularly for long-haul aircraft.

The system includes components such as actuators, power supply units, and control software. Its software-based architecture enables diagnostics and maintenance functions intended to improve reliability and reduce in-service disruptions.

The partnership reflects ongoing demand for faster certification processes and greater flexibility in aircraft seat development, as airlines continue to invest in premium cabin upgrades and new seating configurations.
