Pentastar Aviation has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for installation of the Gogo LX5 air-to-ground inflight connectivity system on Gulfstream GIV, G450, GV, and G550 aircraft.

The approval expands upgrade options for business aviation operators seeking higher-speed inflight connectivity across North America and Canada, particularly as legacy ATG systems continue to be phased out. The LX5 system is designed to support increased bandwidth demand, additional connected devices, and lower-latency connectivity for passengers and crew.

Pentastar said the certification also supports operators looking to upgrade from existing AVANCE L3 and L5 systems or replace older ATG 4000 and 5000 platforms. The company added that the system can later be paired with Gogo’s Galileo satellite connectivity products, expected to enter service in late 2026.

The development reflects a broader business aviation trend toward hybrid and multi-network connectivity architectures that combine air-to-ground and satellite-based systems to improve coverage, speed, and operational flexibility.

“Here at Pentastar, we take great pride in providing the highest quality maintenance,” said Shane Smith, Avionics Sales and Engineering Manager at Pentastar Aviation. “Our technicians are second to none when it comes to expertise, professionalism, and overall quality and care given to your aircraft. This STC upgrade can be installed at our Oakland County International Airport location.”

Pentastar Aviation provides aircraft maintenance, management, FBO, and charter services in the United States, while Gogo develops inflight connectivity systems for business and government aviation markets.
