Air India has appointed Panasonic Avionics Corporation as its in-flight entertainment (IFE) maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider for 74 aircraft.
The agreement covers Panasonic Technical Services’ Total Care Package, supporting IFE systems installed on aircraft, including the Boeing 787-9, Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A350-900 and Airbus A321neo.
Under the contract, Panasonic will provide end-to-end support for its Astrova and X Series IFE platforms across both linefit and retrofit programmes. Services include system monitoring, spares management, field engineering and 24/7 technical support.

As part of the programme, Panasonic will establish new line maintenance stations in Mumbai and New Delhi to support real-time maintenance and improve system reliability across the fleet.
Commenting on the agreement, Tom Eskola, Vice President of Panasonic Technical Services at Panasonic Avionics, said the airline’s decision to adopt the Total Care Package “builds on a long-standing relationship” and reflects its fleet renewal and modernization plans, adding that the programme is intended to support the delivery of an improved in-flight experience.
Jeremy Yew, Senior Vice President – Engineering & Maintenance at Air India, noted that “responsive, high-quality maintenance support is vital for the operational efficiency” of the airline’s expanding fleet. He added that the establishment of new maintenance stations in Delhi and Mumbai will help “minimize IFE-related disruptions and maximize aircraft availability,” while strengthening engineering capabilities in India.
